Nepal is known as country of festival.
There are different religion and ethnic
group live in Nepal. All the different
religion and ethnic
group have their own festival. The Hindus
have their own festival and rituals and
other including Buddhist have their own
festival and rituals.
All the festival whether that is Hindu or
Buddhist or any other festival represent (at
different timing and related natural) God
and Goddess. They pray
for good life, good harvest, good health, no
obstruct and happiness in life.
All the religious people give equal priority
to their festival. At the festival time they
eat delicious food, exchange greetings,
invite friend and relatives
and celebrate the festival together. All the
festival have interesting ledgend and good
message to the society.

The major festival in Hinduism are Dashain,
Dipabali, Holy, Shiva Ratri, Janai Purnima,
Teej, New Year.
The major festival in Buddhism are Buddha
Jayanti,
Mani Rimdu, Losar, Saga Dawa and etc.

Hindu Festival
Dashain:
Dashain is the biggest festival to
the Hindus. This festival is falls
in October/ November as per the
Nepali calendar. This festival is
celebrated for 15 days but the most
interesting days are 7-10. The tenth
day is the most important day that
day the junior take bless from the
senior. Each and every house offer
delicious food and drinks.
Especially towards the hill area the
villagers paint the house, they wear
the new clothes, sacrifice he goat,
he buffalo, duck or etc as their
cast or economic condition. All the
people back to their home from job,
school and college. The festival is
celebrated as victory of God over
evil.
Dipabali:
This festival is
celebrated for five days. All the
five days are differently worship
for different God. The first day is
for Yamraj (the king of heaven), the
second day is celebrated to dog (as
he care well to the family), the
third day is more special that they
worship to the god of wealth Lakshmi
()
Teej:
Thsi festival falls in August. This
festival mainly observed by the
women. They get together in some of
the nearest temple or some holy
river side and sing a song and
dance. They wear mostly red colored
dress and go to the God Shiva temple
to offer. The unmarried girls offer
to have good husband and married
pray for long and happy life of
husband.
Nava Barsa:
The Nepal New Year is falls in
March/April as Nepali calendar.
Maha Shiva
Ratri: This is the birth day of
Lord Shiva. Devotees visit lord
Shiva temple. Many Shadus (holy man)
are there with differently dressed
and some seems enjoying with
smoking. The festival mainly
observed in Pashupatinath temple in
Kathmandu.
Ram Navami:
The day of God Rama the
hero of epic Ramayana.
